Capturing Screen Images
When creating presentations or instructional hand outs it is sometimes importaint to insert captured comptuer screens to clarify a point.
Follow these steps to capture and edit screens.
Display the screen you want to capture on the monitor and make sure the title bar is selected (that usually means it is blue)
Press and hold the Alt key and tap the Print Screen key once - the Print Screen key is usually to the right of the F12 function key in the upper right area of the keyboard
This will put the active screen onto the computer's clipboard, ready to be pasted into any Windows application
To edit the image and save it before use just open Microsoft Paint (Programs / Accessories / Paint)
In Paint click Edit / Paste to insert the image into the program
Edit as needed.
Make sure you save it as a JPG or GIF file, not in the much larger BMP format
Note that you can also edit the image by pasting it directly into Word or PowerPoint
To capture the entire screen, not just the active window, press the Print Screen key without holding Alt
